The story so far... Established under the name of Black 'n White in 1978 our history now goes back over 30 years. Starting from a single dark room in Covent Garden before the 'tourists' arrived, the company soon grew, and in 1980 moved alongside KJP - now Calumet - in Great Marlborough Street. The three flights of stairs up to the lab were no obstacle to our wide range of clients and with a growing reputation for quality and service we introduced colour printing and slide duplication services. 1987 saw us expand into
larger premises in Hatton Garden, heart of London's diamond trade.
Being adjacent to the up and coming Clerkenwell area, we were well
placed to service the influx of photographers and designers, and Black
'n White 'n Colour evolved steadily over the next 5 years with a move
into scanning and other digital services in 1992. Within four months, despite starting a night shift we still needed a higher capacity to handle the workflow, and so a second machine was ordered. The problem arose again - where best to put it? The answer appeared out of the blue when the next door premises became available and for the best part of a year we used that site purely as a production area. In mid 2001 a decision was made to refurbish this second area by building a mezzanine level and replacing the rather tardy shop front. Along with our ever increasing list of loyal consumers and keen amateurs, Panther was proving extremely popular with professional photographers and it seemed only natural to integrate the original Black 'n White 'n Colour laboratory into the new site. This progression was celebrated with a change of name on the 1st September 2002 to Panther Professional, which now runs successfully alongside Panther Imaging. As time passed, more and more people have turned to digital capture, but despite this migration there are still those who prefer the look and feel of the results that black and white and colour film produces, and we continue to offer comprehensive traditional processing and printing. Since Panther opened, frame sales have always been a strong part of the business, and it seemed only natural to extend our service by offering high quality hand made frames in both wood and metal. Our fully equipped workshop allows our highly skilled staff to work to specific requirements, utilising a range of specialist, archival and innovative framing techniques for the discerning client. We have also completed many projects, making frames for complete exhibitions and displays for London galleries and offices.
